I spent 6 great weeks in a quarry a few miles outside Salzburg sculpting stone. The Stone Sculpture Symposium is part of the Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts. The Symposium was tutored by Susanne Tunn and Eileen MacDonagh and assisted by David Svododa. There were 12 students including myself from all over Europe. It was a very productive 6 weeks and I learnt a huge amount from the tutors and from the other students in a very creative environment.

See Salzburg Stone Sculpture Symposium page (when I get round to doing it) for more details and the work I produced. Also have a look at New Work.

Thanks to Carlow County Council Arts Office for awarding me a grant under their “Support for Artists scheme” to buy some stone carving equipment.

“Gourd” has been selected for the Open show of Eigise Carlow Arts Festival which is in June.
